Remote Video Proofing

As part of Exostar’s commitment to security standards and best practices, we will be making a change to our Remote Video Proofing process starting June 1, 2023.

Change Overview

During a Remote Video Proofing session, users are required to present evidence of identity in the form of documents.  Currently, this requirement is satisfied by presentation of 1 unexpired government issued picture ID.  As of June 1, 2023, an individual will be required to present either:

2 STRONG or SUPERIOR pieces of evidence
OR
1 STRONG or SUPERIOR piece of evidence AND 2 FAIR pieces of evidence.

A notional list of qualifying documents can be found on the NIST website, and copied below, to provide examples of the types of documents that will be accepted by our proofers. This change will allow Exostar to meet the updated Identity Proofing requirements (IAL2) defined under NIST 800-63-3 and will be implemented for all individuals undergoing Remote Video Proofing for any Exostar solution.
