Exostar has identified a compatibility requirement for customers who access the Exostar Managed Secure Desktop (MSD) via the Microsoft Remote Desktop App. To ensure uninterrupted and reliable access, customers must use a specific version of the application as detailed in this notice.
Customers running versions other than the one specified below may experience degraded performance, connection failures, or loss of access to the MSD environment. Exostar strongly advises all affected users to verify their current version and update immediately if required.
Required Application Version
Download Required Application
The Microsoft Remote Desktop App (1.2.7214.0) is available exclusively via Exostar’s Microsoft Secure Desktop dashboard. Follow the steps below to download and install it:
- Log in to the EMSD Dashboard via Exostar’s Managed Access Gateway (MAG) using your Exostar credentials at: https://fedramp-ui.portal.exostar.com/
- Navigate to the Launch EMSD button on the main dashboard card (upper right of card).
- Select Download Remote Desktop App – Version 1.2.7214.0.
- Download the installer and follow the on-screen installation instructions.

Verify Installed Version
To confirm the version of the Microsoft Remote Desktop App currently installed on your device:
- Open the Microsoft Remote Desktop App.
- Click on the menu icon (three dots) in the top-right corner of the application window.
- Select About or Help from the menu.
- The version number is displayed on the About screen. Confirm it reads 1.2.7214.0. or higher.
