Exostar Secure Messaging Threads Administration

Exostar Secure Messaging Sponsor Administrators are responsible for threads administration. Go to Administration → Threads. This is your control center for per-thread administration across your entire sponsor. Note: viewing a thread’s contents still requires being a participant on that thread.

Three tabs: All, Orphaned, and Archived — each with a live count. The table columns are: Subject, Manager, Status, CUI, Started By, Last Activity, and Actions (kebab menu). Expand a thread row with its chevron to see Created date, Messages count, Files count, and Participants count.

Change Thread Manager

To change a Thread Manager:

1. On the All tab, open a thread’s kebab menu and select Change manager.

2. Select an eligible Thread Manager from the dropdown.

3. Select Confirm.

The new manager is auto-added as a participant if they are not already on the thread.

Archive and Reactivate Threads

Archive: Open the kebab menu and select Archive. Confirm. All participants except the Thread Manager are removed. The thread moves to the Archived tab and becomes read-only.

Reactivate: On the Archived tab, open the kebab menu and select Reactivate Thread. The thread returns to the All tab as Active. Participants must be re-added manually.

Orphaned Threads

A thread becomes orphaned when its Thread Manager is removed with no successor. It is auto-locked and shows an Orphaned badge. To manage an orphaned thread:

1. Select the Orphaned tab.

2. Open a thread’s kebab menu and select Reassign manager.

3. Select an eligible Thread Manager from the dropdown.

4. Select Confirm. The thread unlocks and returns to the All tab as Active.

Bulk Actions

Select multiple thread rows using the checkboxes to access bulk actions:

  • Reassign [N]: Select a single Thread Manager to receive all selected threads.
  • Archive [N]: All participants except each thread’s Thread Manager are removed; threads move to the Archived tab.
